Hearts & Hands at Camp Joy

CAMP JOY 2005

CAMP JOY (Christian Appalachian Mission Project Joining Other Youth) is an outreach youth program that began in 1990 to help elderly or destitute homeowners in the Hancock, Maryland - Berkley Springs, West Virginia area to repair their homes and improve their quality of life. The youth and their leaders stay at a Methodist campground called Camp Harmison for a week in July. Local church groups donate their facilities to provide meals for the youth volunteers every night for two weeks.

Here are some pictures from our time at CAMP JOY in 2005.  This is just a taste of what a fun and fulfilling experience this is!  You’ll see here some examples of the people we help, some of the jobs we perform, some of what our kids do, some of the friendships our kids develop while here, and some of the beautiful sights we see (not just trees).
